English as the main subject

Students with a degree equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen where English is the main subject can pursue their education without IELTS. It is also to be noted that if an applicant requires more than one degree to meet the requirement of a degree equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen, for example, a 2-year bachelors degree and  a 2-year masters degree, in both the degrees English has to be the main subject

60 credits EU/EEA or Switzerland

Students with 60 ECTS credits or the credits equivalent to it from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland where English was the language of instruction of the course, can study in universities of Sweden without giving IELTS. The language of instruction must be clearly mentioned on all the official documents. Please also take into consideration that these credits should not be from a preparatory program or introductory level English courses.

60 credits other countries

Students having the equivalent of 60 ECTS credits from USA, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica, or English speaking parts of Canada fulfill the English requirement without IELTS. India and Pakistan

Students from India and  Pakistan having a Bachelor's degree that is equal to a Swedish Kandidatexamen in Engineering, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Technology, Medicine, Pharmacy documented that the language of instruction was English, and can study in Sweden without IELTS. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor's of Technology from Pakistan shall not be considered as fulfillment of the English requirement. A Bachelor’s degree from Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST), also shall not be taken into consideration to meet the English requirement unless it is clearly stated in the official degree document that English was the language of instruction.
