List of Top Ranking Universities in Latvia for International Students

Latvia is one of the most emerging study abroad destinations in Europe. The Universities in Latvia are introducing more and more English taught programs for international students every year.

Three Latvian universities featured in the Top Universities ranking by QS World University Rankings, and four featured in the rankings by Times Higher Education University Rankings for 2022. Here we are talking about Universities in Latvia for international students.

1. Riga Technical University

The first technical University in Baltic countries, as well as the first Technical University in Imperial Russia when it was established back in 1862, and it is one of the Public Universities in Latvia. The University has programs in engineering, science, agriculture, and chemistry. 

The University was also the first Baltic University to offer an MBA (Master of Business Administration) in English. There are a number of courses available in to study in English along with an MBA, and the University’s business school, Riga Business School was established in 1991 in cooperation with the University of Ottawa in Canada and the State University of New York at Buffalo.

2. Riga Stradins University

Known for the advancements in Healthcare and Social Sciences, RSU is the only University in Latvia that is integrated with the healthcare system of the country and that is what makes it one of the preferred Universities in Latvia for medical studies.

It is the Second Best University in Latvia, ranked right below the Riga Technical University. The University, as mentioned below offers courses in Medicine such as dentistry, medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health. Out of approximately 7000 students in RSU, 2000 are international students.

3. University of Latvia

Another one of the public Universities in Latvia, the University of Latvia is one of the largest and most prestigious Universities in Latvia and the Baltic Countries. It was established in 1919. There are more than 14000 students enrolled in the University, and a third of them are in the Business and Economics Faculty of the University. The other faculties include

4. University of Liepaja

5. Turiba University

The largest business institute in Latvia, Turiba University was established in 1953. There are five branches of Turiba University across Latvia. There are four faculties of Turiba University, namely

• International tourism, and
• Communication.

The Bachelor's program for hospitality and tourism management at Turiba University has obtained WTO TedQual certificate from the renowned United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
